Cimex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, has introduced a new Essential variant of the BYD Atto 2 in Nepal at Rs 45.95 lakh, making the compact electric SUV more accessible to Nepali buyers. The existing BYD Atto 2 Premium continues to be available at Rs 48.99 lakh.
Positioned between the BYD Dolphin and the larger Atto 3, the Atto 2 is a compact electric crossover designed for urban driving while offering the higher ground clearance and SUV stance suited to Nepal's road conditions.
The new Essential variant retains the core electric powertrain and several key features of the Premium while using a smaller battery pack to achieve a lower price.
The BYD Atto 2 Essential is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 with Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology. It measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase and generous 200 mm ground clearance.
The compact SUV rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and offers between 380 litres and 1,320 litres of luggage space depending on the rear-seat configuration.
Power comes from the same 100 kW permanent magnet synchronous electric motor used in the Premium variant, producing 290 Nm of peak torque. The front-wheel-drive setup enables a claimed 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 9 seconds.
The key difference is the battery. The new Atto 2 Essential gets a 45.12 kWh BYD Blade Battery, delivering a claimed WLTP range of up to 312 km. The existing Premium uses a larger 51.13 kWh Blade Battery and offers up to 345 km of WLTP range.
Both variants support 7 kW AC charging and up to 82 kW DC fast charging, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.
Despite its lower positioning, the Essential variant gets a substantial equipment list. It features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, 8-speaker audio system, synthetic leather seats, automatic climate control with PM2.5 filtration, high-efficiency heat pump, ventilated front seats, keyless entry and start, and a 360-degree camera.
The Premium variant continues to offer additional equipment, including 50W wireless charging, BYD Digital Key, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, along with a more extensive suite of active safety and driver-assistance features.
With the new Essential variant, BYD has effectively lowered the entry price of the Atto 2 in Nepal, while retaining the same motor, 200 mm ground clearance and core Atto 2 design and technology package.
